Seven Sisters Cliffs in Seaford - Spectacular Chalk Cliffs in Southern England
Our first destination in Southern England was supposed to be the “Seven Sisters Cliffs” in Seaford. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the best conditions as our trip started with a cold. Nevertheless, we didn’t want to miss seeing these spectacular chalk cliffs.
Getting There and Parking
If you arrive by car, you can park directly at the Visitor Centre. For 4 hours of parking, you pay £5. The time should be enough to hike there and back. We decided to take the first part towards Birling Gap and return via the beach. The first part is thus rather hilly with good uphill and downhill sections, while the return path first goes well downhill and then continues flat and level.

The “Visitor Centre” - Preparation for the Route
Before we could get started, we strolled leisurely through the Visitor Centre, past a cozy cafe and passed a small snack bar where we stocked up on drinks and a sandwich. You can also stop there after your hike and treat yourself to something warm to drink, for example. There’s a good selection. If you’re traveling with your dog, they’ll be happy too, as you can get free treats there. Additionally, you can always fill your water bottle with water in front of the snack bar, for free.

In the Visitor Centre itself, you can of course stock up on souvenirs and what we personally found really great: There are also some useful information boards where you can learn about nature, wildlife diversity, stars, and recycling.

The Hike - 7 km of Spectacular Panorama
After we were now well equipped with information and provisions, we finally set off. Our route is about 7 km long. It was quite cloudy, cool, and windy. But that didn’t bother the tourists. In fact, we were surprised how many people were bustling around in October. How crowded it must be here in summer!
The panorama is breathtakingly beautiful along the entire route. You get very close to nature and can feel it. The path is strenuous in some places, however not extremely difficult. Once you reach the top of the chalk cliffs, the view is phenomenal. Tip: With a bit of patience, you can also get photos without other people in them. Actually, the sun even came out again for a bit, which naturally made it much more beautiful.

You can of course hike all seven hills, but due to our cold, the first hill was enough for us. For us, it was still worthwhile and we would recommend it to anyone who loves nature. The Seven Sisters Cliffs are an impressive sight.
Important Safety Note
Note: Always be careful not to go too close to the cliffs. There are no barriers here. Stones could come loose / slide down and then it’s over 100 meters of unbraked descent. So always stick to the marked paths and always maintain a good distance from the cliff edge.
